Julie Hamill presents oral argument to the Fifth District Court of Appeal regarding the constitutionally protected referendum power.

Mom. Lawyer. Leader.

I’m a lawyer and mom of three boys. My older two attend second grade and kindergarten in PVPUSD.

My kids are the fourth generation in my family to attend California public schools. I’ve witnessed the deterioration of facilities, curriculum, and opportunities in our public schools. I want to make it better for my kids, and for all families living in the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It’s going to take change not only at the local level, but at the state and federal levels as well.

Child Advocate

As a litigator I’m trained to cross-examine and depose difficult witnesses.

I founded the Alliance of Los Angeles County Parents to fight for children via legislative advocacy and litigation. Through the Alliance and through my own personal volunteer work, I use my voice to advocate for children at every possible opportunity. Here are some examples of recent activity.

Community Leader

I previously served as Chair of the Rancho Palos Verdes Planning Commission and as a member of the City’s Traffic Safety Committee. In the past I’ve acted as counsel to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and to the Palos Verdes Homes Association. I am deeply familiar with critical issues and history impacting Palos Verdes, and bring a unique blend of diplomacy and strength that our Board needs to move us in a better direction.

Public service requires officials to listen to and respect all constituents regardless of their viewpoints. Decisions must be debated and made in a public forum. I am working to ensure transparent and responsive leadership is restored.
